Paolo was born in Milan in 1953. He began since he was a kid to dream of far away lands and of different people by hearing the stories of its grandfather that, left in 1935 to Abissinia, came back after fifteen years with a luggage of not many things, but with an important patrimony of human experience and passions to transmit. Curiosity and enthusiasm push very soon Paolo to travel, even with not much means of transport allow to a student. A great spirit of observation, a human inborn energy and a pure and direct comunicative are the winning cards in order to observe the lands with eyes of a true traveller and in order to establish with the people met a relationship that will last in time. He graduates in economy and commerce in the University of Bocconi in Milan in 1980 and decides to practice a "professional work in economy".A binding job in the frenetic and convulsive Milan doesn't prevent Paolo to continue his route of knowledge. He can mediate his two great passions for the sea and for the travel, trying to conjugate the stressful life of the "metropoli" with the peace and the silence of the landscapes of the visited places. Teacher of underwater immersions, a passion that he coltivates from the year 1970, adresses his first experiences of journey at the knowledge of the seas of the world and of adventure in unknown areas. In the meanwhile in between different business engagements, he documents himself, studies and organizes himself always more in order to reach far away destination "travel to freedom". The desire to visit the world is the expression of an own, deep need of his character, a tentative of evasion from what Sigmund Freud called "the discomfort of the civilization" which derives from the rules that we have imposed, or that have been imposed to us. And it's right during these continuous journey in different places of the world past in different periods between the year 1985 and today, that his passion for photography like a way to transmit emotions and sensations becomes bigger and bigger. From where does this incessant desire to go away and travel, to leave our country in which we live every day for places, people, lands that we don't know derives from? To see unknown landscapes, to hear new sounds, see new colors, to have truer emotions? The curiosity for the different, like a universal tendency to exploration. The journey can become, in this way, a symbol of the continuous human research, physically and spiritually, of the hope to meet something that is wonderful and unsayable to identify in the attraction towards the infinity diversity of the other populations and of the other countries for the last goal of the journey.
